Northwoods Forecast

3 Things To Know:

  • Expect mostly sunny conditions today with dry weather.
  • Chances for rain and storms increase tonight into Tuesday.
  • Warmer temperatures return by the end of the week, reaching the 70s and 80s.

Sunny and Dry Today

Today in Northwest Wisconsin, we’ll enjoy mostly sunny skies and dry conditions. A surface high pressure system is settling in from the Canadian Prairies, resulting in lighter winds generally under 15 mph. Nonetheless, isolated gusts may reach 20 mph this afternoon. High temperatures will be in the 50s and 60s, making for a mild day overall.

However, with recent dryness, fire weather concerns are heightened. The NWS notes that “minimum relative humidity values falling into the low 20s” can lead to near-critical fire weather conditions. Care should be taken if you’re planning outdoor activities.

Increased Rain and Storm Chances

Tuesday Forecast Wisconsin

As we move into tonight, the weather pattern is set to shift. An approaching warm front will bring an increase in rain and storm potential across the region. Expect a 50-70% chance of showers and possibly some embedded thunderstorms overnight into Tuesday morning. With a cap in place, severe storms are less likely but small hail could occur with more vigorous cells.

Confidence in the timing of these weather changes is increasing, although the details regarding the intensity remain somewhat uncertain.

Cooler Midweek, then Warming Up

Following the rain, a brief period of cooler conditions will settle in on Wednesday, with temperatures in the 50s and 60s. However, a warming trend is expected later in the week. By Friday, we’re looking at highs climbing back into the 70s and possibly the 80s. This warm-up could also bring the potential for additional rain and thunderstorms as a low-pressure system moves into the area late Thursday.

In summary, enjoy today’s pleasant weather, but be prepared for rain and potential storms starting tonight.
