3 Things To Know:
- Expect cooler weather on Saturday with highs in the 50s to low 70s.
- Near-critical fire weather conditions may develop Sunday due to low humidity and gusty winds.
- Rain and thunderstorms are possible next week, increasing as moisture returns.
Weather Now
Temperatures are taking a dip this weekend as a cold front moves through Northwest Wisconsin. Saturday will bring cooler air, especially in the northern regions, while southern areas still enjoy a touch of summer warmth.
Saturday Weather
On Saturday, a cold front will lead to unseasonably cool temperatures. Expect highs only reaching the 50s in parts of northern Minnesota, while Northwest Wisconsin will see warmer conditions, hitting low 70s under partly sunny skies. You may experience some scattered showers throughout the day, particularly in northeastern Minnesota and over Lake Superior. Although rainfall amounts will be light, there may be a brief rumble of thunder with these showers, especially later in the afternoon.
As the evening progresses, a low-level jet is likely to develop, which could initiate additional showers and thunderstorms moving into our southern counties. While the potential for severe weather is low, we can’t completely rule out gusty winds or small hail from a few stronger storms.
Sunday Weather Outlook

The cooling trend will continue into Sunday with dry air filtering from Manitoba and the Dakotas. Expect mostly sunny skies but watch out for breezy northwest winds gusting to 25 mph. These conditions may cause relative humidity to drop to 25-30%, raising concerns for fire weather. Areas especially susceptible should keep alert for near-critical fire weather conditions.
Looking Ahead to Next Week
The pattern for next week looks similar to Sunday. A quick-moving upper-level trough may introduce chances for scattered showers and thunderstorms later on Monday into Tuesday. Current forecasts suggest that the strong/severe storm potential will remain to our south.
Temperatures should gradually warm as we reach the latter part of the week, with more typical summer weather returning as we shift to a more southerly flow.
