Weather Overview
Hot and muggy conditions will continue to dominate Northwest Wisconsin.
As we head into the evening, a line of storms moving from Canada may impact our region. Atmospheric conditions are conducive for severe weather, with CAPE values reaching between 2000 to 3000 J/kg and moderate wind shear present.
According to the latest National Weather Service discussion,
“Hail up to 2 inches in size and wind gusts of 60-70 mph are still possible, but tornado chances are low due to their elevated bases.”
Expect potential ponding of water where the heaviest rain falls overnight.
Tuesday’s Outlook
On Tuesday, the cold front will push southward through the area, maintaining the humid conditions. Scattered showers and thunderstorms may redevelop in the afternoon and evening, with some storms also capable of producing hail and damaging winds.
Flooding Concerns Mid-Week
The potential for flooding increases as the front stalls mid-week. Recent rainfall may exacerbate the situation in areas that are already saturated. While there is some uncertainty about the exact location of the heaviest precipitation, models indicate a band of rain could affect northern Minnesota and Wisconsin, with rainfall totals ranging from 2 to 4 inches possible.
Looking Ahead
By Thursday, the heavy rain is expected to shift eastward, bringing relief from the active weather with high pressure building into the area. This will lead to lower humidity levels and mostly clear skies through the end of the week. However, by the weekend, expect to see a return of hotter and more humid conditions.
