Northwest Wisconsin is experiencing a stretch of dry weather today and continuing through Wednesday night as high pressure builds over the region. Though thereโ€™s a slight chance of some isolated showers in inland north-central Wisconsin this afternoon, the majority will remain dry.

Temperature Expectations

Expect temperatures to drop into the low to mid-40s tonight, with some colder areas, particularly in the Arrowhead and Iron Range, dipping into the upper 30s. However, no frost is anticipated.

Storms Ahead

Storms ahead.

As we move into late Thursday and Friday, a shift is on the way. A weather system will bring a 45 to 70 percent chance for scattered showers and non-severe thunderstorms, particularly affecting the Brainerd Lakes, east-central Minnesota, and far western Wisconsin in the late afternoon and early evening hours. The atmosphere will have enough instability (around 1000 J/kg of CAPE) to support a few stronger storms.

Following this system, a cold front will sweep through on Friday, resulting in more scattered showers and the continuation of non-severe thunderstorms across the same areas mentioned above.

Weekend Weather Outlook

Good news for the weekend: after the passage of the front, we can look forward to pleasant weather with seasonal temperatures in the 70s and mostly sunny skies.

Next Weekโ€™s Forecast

Into early next week, expect another chance for rain showers and thunderstorms by Monday morning, continuing into Tuesday, as the progressive weather pattern maintains periodic chances for precipitation.

โ€œPredominantly rain-free weather is expected today and Wednesday, with humidity dropping significantly before the next round of showers returns Thursday.โ€
