3 Things To Know:

  • Dry conditions will persist through Tuesday morning.
  • Heavy rainfall potential increases Tuesday afternoon, with 1-3 inches likely.
  • Expect cooler temperatures towards the weekend.

Today’s Dry Weather

As we move through the afternoon, dry conditions are holding strong across western Wisconsin. Look for highs in the upper 60s to mid-70s. While some patchy fog might develop tonight, the visibility issues shouldn’t be as significant as we experienced earlier. Be aware that spots could see visibility drop to a mile or less.

Upcoming Rainfall and Flooding Concerns

Starting Tuesday afternoon, prepare for a significant shift as a low-pressure system brings moisture and potential for widespread rainfall through Thursday. Rain is expected to begin in the western forecasts shortly after midday, aligning with rising moisture levels. Rainfall totals may reach 2.5 inches or more, particularly in areas south of I-90.

“Widespread totals of 2+ inches are possible,” according to the latest NWS updates. Parts of northeastern Iowa and far southwestern Wisconsin may face the brunt of this precipitation. Flooding could be a concern, especially for rivers and areas recovering from recent rains. The heaviest rainfall is projected for Wednesday afternoon and night, aligning with a push from a cold front. Higher totals of 3.5 inches or more could occur in isolated areas.

Weekend Outlook: Cooler and Drier

Following the rainfall, Western Wisconsin will begin to cool down as we head into the weekend. Daytime highs will remain in the mid-60s, but expect overnight lows to dip into the lower 40s to mid-30s. While current forecasts suggest dry conditions, a slight chance for light rain may emerge Saturday if conditions allow.
