3 Things To Know:

  • Extreme Heat Watch in effect Monday for central Wisconsin and the Fox Valley.
  • Severe thunderstorms possible tonight and again Monday night.
  • High heat and humidity will persist through the week, especially on Monday and Tuesday.

What’s Happening Today

Northeast Wisconsin can expect mainly dry conditions today, with a small chance (20-30%) for thunderstorms developing mainly over north-central Wisconsin this afternoon. High temperatures will range from the upper 70s to middle 80s, giving us a taste of more comfortable summer weather before the heat ramps up starting Monday.

Prepare for Extreme Heat

An *Extreme Heat Watch* is in effect for central Wisconsin and the Fox Valley from Monday afternoon into the evening. High temperatures are forecast to soar into the lower to middle 90s, combined with dew points in the lower to middle 70s. This will produce heat indices ranging from the upper 90s to lower 100s, which can be dangerous, particularly for sensitive groups.

As mentioned in the forecast discussion, “*HREF probabilities of hitting Extreme Heat Warning criteria are 50-70% across central Wisconsin and the Fox Valley Monday afternoon into early Monday evening.*”

Severe Weather Alerts

In addition to the heat, be prepared for strong to severe thunderstorms tonight and again on Monday night. Main hazards include damaging winds, large hail, and heavy rainfall. The likelihood of severe storms tonight is between 60-90% as a warm front moves northward. Heavy rain associated with these storms could lead to localized flooding, particularly in areas that experience repeated activity.

Looking Ahead

Following Monday’s heat, we can expect continued warm temperatures through the week, ranging in the upper 80s to lower 90s. There will be opportunities for additional thunderstorms from Tuesday through the end of the week, although the exact timing remains uncertain due to conflicting model predictions.

Stay safe during this extreme weather period and keep an eye on local weather forecasts as conditions develop.
