Frost Possible

A chilly start to the weekend will bring areas of frost to northern Wisconsin, with additional frost possible into early next week.

3 Things To Know

  • Saturday morning: Areas of frost across north-central and far northeast Wisconsin.
  • Sunday night: Another round of frost is expected in the colder northern areas.
  • Monday night: Frost remains possible, with patchy frost potentially reaching central and east-central Wisconsin.

The National Weather Service in Green Bay says areas of frost are expected across north-central and far northeast Wisconsin Saturday morning as colder air settles across the region.

Frost and freeze headlines are in effect for portions of the area.

Where Frost Is Most Likely

The greatest frost concern Saturday morning stretches across north-central and far northeast Wisconsin, including areas around Vilas, Oneida, Forest, Florence, Lincoln, Langlade and northern Marinette counties.

Temperatures near the ground may become cold enough for frost to develop, particularly in the typically colder rural and low-lying locations.

Anyone with sensitive outdoor plants still hanging on this late in the growing season may want to protect them from the cold.

More Frost Possible Sunday and Monday Nights

This is not necessarily a one-night event.

Frost Possible

The National Weather Service says frost is expected across portions of north-central and far northeast Wisconsin again Sunday night and Monday night.

Patchy frost could also extend farther south into portions of central and east-central Wisconsin at times.

That means communities farther south, including parts of the Fox Valley and areas toward Lake Michigan, may need to keep an eye on overnight temperatures early next week.

No Severe Weather Concerns

Outside of the cold nighttime temperatures, the weather pattern looks relatively quiet.

The National Weather Service says spotter activation will not be needed Saturday or Saturday night, with no thunderstorms or other significant hazardous weather highlighted in the outlook.

If you still have flowers, vegetables or other cold-sensitive plants outdoors, this weekend may be the time to start giving them a little extra protection from Wisconsin’s increasingly chilly October nights.
