Science STEM event

King Community Center will be buzzing with curiosity and creativity on Friday, Feb. 7, as the Women and Girls in Science open-house event invites young minds to explore the world of STEAM.

Running from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the free event is designed to challenge stereotypes about who can be a scientist. Through hands-on activities, kids can experiment, ask questions and learn about female STEAM pioneers who helped shape the world we live in today.

Local women leaders from a wide range of science, technology, engineering, art and math careers will be on hand to lead activities and connect with participants, offering a chance for young girls to see themselves in these fields — and maybe even meet a future mentor along the way.

The event is recommended for ages 10 and up. Admission is free, but advanced registration is required.
