Severe storms wisconsin Wednesday

3 Things To Know:

  • Widespread rain is forecast tonight through Wednesday night, with some areas seeing up to 1.5 inches.
  • Western & SW Wisconsin could see severe outbreak
  • Cooler temperatures persist this week, but a slight warming trend is expected by the weekend.

Tonight’s Weather

Wisconsin is experiencing scattered showers and non-severe thunderstorms. These storms should move east and disappear by the evening.

Despite low expected severity, conditions may lead to the development of funnel clouds or weak landspout tornadoes, particularly in north-central Wisconsin. As temperatures reach the mid 60s to low 70s, areas along the North Shore and Twin Ports may be slightly cooler.

Wednesday and Thursday Weather

Heavy Rain Wisconsin

A robust low-pressure system is moving into the region, bringing widespread rain from tonight through Wednesday night. Forecasts suggest total rainfall of 0.5 to 1 inch across the southern parts of the Northland, while northern areas are likely to receive less.

As highlighted in the Area Forecast Discussion, “Moderate to locally heavier precipitation amounts are possible in southern portions of the Northland,” particularly from Brainerd Lakes eastward into northwest Wisconsin. Isolated storm development is possible on Wednesday afternoon, but widespread severe storms are not expected.

Friday and Weekend Outlook

On Friday, there is still a chance of scattered showers and storms with a 20-50% likelihood in the afternoon. However, a shift to primarily dry conditions is anticipated for the upcoming weekend as high pressure moves into the area. Expect temperatures to gradually warm into the upper 60s and mid-70s.

Be cautious of local weather conditions, particularly in the afternoon as winds and rain can create variability in weather patterns. For updated forecasts where you live check out our Forecasts Page.
