Evening Showers and Storms
Expect showers and thunderstorms to continue through this evening across Northeast Wisconsin. Most storms will produce small hail and gusty winds, with the potential for isolated quarter-sized hail in eastern parts of the state. These storms should start to move out of the area after 6 to 7 PM.
More Storms on Wednesday
Another round of showers and storms is forecasted for Wednesday, with an 80 to 100 percent chance of precipitation. A stronger system is approaching, which could lead to a few strong storms especially from central to east-central Wisconsin. The primary threats continue to be small hail and gusty winds, along with the possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall. There is a 60 to 80 percent chance that some areas could see more than an inch of rain.
As stated in the latest Area Forecast Discussion, “The track of the accompanying surface low is expected to remain over southern Wisconsin, which should keep warm front and more unstable air south of the area, and greatly limit the overall severe potential.” This indicates that while conditions may be conducive for storms, the severe threat is somewhat tempered.
Cooler Temperatures Ahead
Temperatures will remain below average for the week, ranging from the 60s to low 70s. A brief chance for scattered showers is also expected on Thursday, driven by surface heating, though impacts from these showers will likely be minimal. Looking ahead, another system may bring widespread rainfall starting Saturday night into Sunday.
