Warm Fall

3 Things To Know:

  • Low clouds and fog may develop, particularly affecting eastern areas tonight.
  • Above-normal temperatures are expected to persist through the weekend.
  • A slight chance of showers arrives mid-next week with a cool down in temperatures.

Tonight and Friday’s Weather

The main concern for tonight is the potential for low clouds and fog, especially in eastern parts of Southeast Wisconsin. The current low stratus deck, which has been impacting northern Lake Michigan and northeast Wisconsin, is expected to push southward. This may create reduced visibility due to fog.

Fog

An area of low stratus and light fog is likely to linger into Friday morning. Dense fog is a possibility, particularly near Lake Michigan. As noted by the NWS, “Dense fog down to one quarter mile or less is possible as well into Friday morning for terminals near Lake Michigan.”

Once the fog starts to dissipate on Friday morning, we can anticipate a mild day ahead. Highs will be around the lower to middle 70s away from the lake, with temperatures in the upper 60s closer to the shore due to an onshore flow.

Looking Ahead to the Weekend

Saturday and Sunday are expected to continue with above-normal temperatures. Daytime highs will likely range from the upper 60s to lower 70s. Winds will be generally from the south to southwest, maintaining dry conditions.

As we move into early next week, a cold front will approach the area. This will lead to a change in winds to the northeast, cooling our temperatures to more seasonal values in the upper 50s and lower 60s. While rain chances are minimal, there is a slight 20-30 percent chance for showers later in the week.
