3 Things To Know:
- Expect showers and storms late tonight into Tuesday, with some storms potentially strong.
- Cooler and drier conditions return for midweek.
- Rain chances will increase again on Friday.
Monday Night’s Forecast

Quiet weather is expected for most of the afternoon into the evening. However, late tonight, showers and storms are anticipated to develop from the southwest and move into Southeast Wisconsin. While the models suggest these storms may weaken by the time they reach our area, there is a possibility for strong to severe storms primarily in southwest Wisconsin. The key will be how these storms evolve as they move eastward.
According to the National Weather Service, “Clearing this afternoon has definitely increased our severe risk as we will likely be able to hang on to a bit more instability…” This means the severe weather potential remains a concern, especially for areas closer to Madison.
Tuesday’s Trend
By mid-morning Tuesday, the storms should have pushed out, leading to a cold front moving through. While there are some concerns about storms developing along this front, it appears that limited instability may reduce any severe threat. After the front passes, winds will shift to the northwest, bringing cooler and clearer conditions later in the day.
Midweek Cooling Trend
The weather is expected to be calm and dry on Wednesday and Thursday, with high pressure settling in. Daytime highs will likely be in the 50s for much of eastern Wisconsin, while areas further west may reach the low 60s.
Looking Ahead
Friday brings our next chance for precipitation as a low-pressure system approaches from the Great Plains. Rain chances will begin to increase, but significant thunderstorms are not expected due to insufficient moisture and instability.
In summary, expect a round of showers and possible storms tonight, cooler weather moving in for midweek, and another chance of rain towards the end of the week.
