3 Things To Know:
- Record high temperatures reaching the mid-80s this afternoon.
- Isolated showers and thunderstorms may develop late today into Tuesday night.
- Colder temperatures expected this weekend, with frost likely on Friday night.
Mondayโs Weather
This afternoon, Southeast Wisconsin is broke temperature records, with highs in the mid-80s in Milwaukee and Madison. The previous records of 83 degrees for both cities, recorded in 1995 and 2008, are anticipated to be surpassed.
As a low pressure system moves into northern Wisconsin, gusty southwest winds will accompany the warmth, with gusts reaching 20-25 mph. As we move into the evening, isolated showers or thunderstorms are possible, particularly north of a Dells-Milwaukee line, with the greatest precipitation chances occurring between 5 PM and midnight.
“A few agitated cumulus are visible in the warm sector of the low across central Wisconsin, indicating some potential for an isolated shower or storm late this afternoon,” notes the NWS forecast discussion.

Looking Ahead to Tuesday
On Tuesday, expect temperatures in the 70s under mostly clear skies, but cloud cover will increase Tuesday evening as the next system approaches. Showers and isolated thunderstorms are likely near the Wisconsin-Illinois border, with chances ranging from 20-50% overall. The best chances for rain will be late Tuesday night.
As we look further into the week, a series of weather changes are on the way. Rain is likely from Thursday into Thursday night, with a 60-80% chance of thunderstorms at times. As a strong high-pressure system moves in, it is predicted to bring gusty northwest winds of 30-40 mph on Friday, along with a significant drop in temperatures.

Weekend Outlook
Prepare for much colder temperatures this weekend, with lows dipping into the 30s and the possibility of frost Friday night, which may extend into Saturday night as well.
