3 Things To Know:

  • Calm weather is expected today, but areas of fog are likely tonight.
  • Rain chances begin Friday, becoming more widespread through the weekend.
  • Cooler temperatures are set to arrive early next week.

Calm Weather and Fog Tonight

High pressure is building over northwest Wisconsin, bringing a period of calm weather. As we move into tonight, low temperatures are expected to drop into the 30s, leading to areas of fog, particularly in northwest Wisconsin. This could create visibility issues after dark, so be cautious if you’re on the roads.

As noted in the NWS Area Forecast Discussion, “Areas of fog are expected tonight, especially in northwest Wisconsin where the drier airmass will be arriving latest.” An overall seasonably warm Thursday lies ahead, with daytime highs reaching into the mid-60s to low-70s for most areas.

Rain Chances Increasing this Weekend

The quiet, dry weather pattern will give way to more active conditions as we head into the weekend. Rain is expected to start Friday, predominantly in north-central Minnesota, with the potential to spread into Wisconsin. Chances for rain grow more widespread on Saturday and Sunday as a low-pressure system moves in.

This anticipated shift in the weather may bring not just rain but potentially even a rumble of thunder as well. The confidence in precipitation for this weekend is increasing, so keep an eye on the forecasts as details develop. Expect cooler temperatures to follow early next week, with highs only reaching the mid-40s to low-50s and overnight lows dipping below freezing throughout the area.
